Gone Mad?

Sep 14, 2020

The 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers were released between 1975 and 1979 and followed to ups and downs (mostly downs) of a Basil Fawlty (John Cleese), his wife Sybil (Connie Booth) and their hotel staff.

It has become marred by controversy recently, with a scene regularly cut because of it's use of racial slurs. I ask my two guests, Jethro Dix and Eliza Fraser, if it is right to remove this scene? As well as whether the show holds up as a piece of comedy 45 years later or if it is now so problematic as to no longer be worth watching.
